The Origin of Chinese Astrology
Chinese astrology has been elaborated almost 5000 years ago during the Zhou dynasty (1046–256 BC) and flourished during the Han dynasty (2nd century BC to 2nd century AD). It is closely related to Chinese philosophy. However, it is associated with the theory of three harmonies of heaven, earth, and water.
The order of Chinese signs of astrology is linked with the Chinese Zodiac’s most famous legend: the Jade Emperor Race. As the storey says, the Chinese Emperor had a contest for the lucky animals to be added to the calendar. In the first year of the 12-year period, the first-placed rat wins and claims the victory, and so on.
