Lord Ganesha Daily Chanting Mantras and Significance

Every sound has specific reverberation or frequency. Ancient Vedas revealed significant scientific methods of bringing changes through the chanting of specific sounds. Although the ancient texts have intelligently made arrangements of sounds in the form of meaningful words, the meanings are only for psychological satisfaction. The mere utterance of certain sounds is enough to transform the very basis of our creation.

Mantras are very important to adjust, change, create or destroy certain energy patterns in us. They help to bring clarity and give strength to deal with life situations. Similarly, every god in Hindu Mythology is basically a symbolic representation of essential qualities that we can develop in ourselves. Below are some of the mantras to reverberate Lord Ganesha’s pure energy or consciousness. These can be chanted daily to benefit immensely.

"Om Gam Namah" Removes laziness, despair, discord, and obstacles from life.
"Shri Gam Saubhaya Ganpatiye Var Varad Sarvajanam Me Vashmaanaya Swaha" Brings happiness and prosperity in life.
"Om Vakratundak dantray Kleem hreem Shreem Gam Ganapate Var Varad Sarvajanam Me Vasmaanaya Swaha" For good employment opportunities.
"Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha, Nirvighnam Kuru Mein Dev Sarvakaryeshu Sarvadaa Om Ekadantaya Vidmahe, Vakratundaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Danti Prachodayat" To remove problems in marriage.

Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi Story

‘Katha’, meaning ‘a story’, is an essential part of any festivals, yajnas, pujas and fasts in Hindu culture. It is through the stories that people were educated about the appropriate conduct and transformations in life. Katha is a very effective and creative way of bringing realisations into everyone’s life. Even children would enjoy listening to Kathas.

According to one of the legends associated with Sankashti Chaturthi, once Lord Shiva and Parvati decided to play Chausar. Since there was no one to supervise the game, Lord Shiva created a little boy with occult powers and asked him to act as a supervisor. The boy agreed and Shiva-Parvati started playing the game. Goddess Parvati won the game three times in a row, but the boy declared Lord Shiva the winner every time. Enraged by the boy’s favour, Mother Parvati gave him a curse saying that he would be stuck in a swamp. Soon after receiving the curse, the child pleaded for mercy and at the same time apologised, saying that he did that in ignorance.

Mother Parvati’s heart changed after the boy’s apology. She told him that he can break the curse with the help of Vish-Kanyas and by observing Sankashti Ganesh Chaturthi fast for 21 days. As instructed by Mother Parvati, the little boy observed the fast and became successful in pleasing Lord Ganesha, who freed him from the curse.

Significance of this Fast

Before we start any puja or any important work, Lord Ganesha is invoked. This means one has to create Ganesha Consciousness in themselves which is shifting from Tamo-guna to Sattva-guna. The idols of Lord Ganesha in this puja are basically consecrated with mantras and offerings. This creates certain reverberations within the devotees and the environment.

The purpose behind offerings like water, fruits, nuts, flowers and more is to express our gratitude to Lord Ganesha for providing us with these essentials. He has given us water, so we offer water. He has given fruits to eat, so we offer fruits to him and so on. The point to remember is whatever we offer has to be of Sattvik nature. Mere offering him is not only the intention but also to incorporate such Sattvik-guna in our own lives that fulfill the real purpose of this auspicious day.

Observing Fast with Devotion

Merely performing puja as a routine is of no effect. One needs devotion in his or her heart to get the real benefit. It is the gratefulness towards Lord Ganesha for his blessings that drives a devotee on the path of prosperity. One who observes fast on Akhuratha Sankashti Ganesh Chaturthi gets the blessings of Lord Ganesha and the necessary wisdom to conduct life effortlessly.
