Childhood Days Of Guru Nanak
Nanak Saheb took his birth in Talwandi village of Pakistan. His father, Kalyan and his mother, Trupti Devi, was Hindu by religion. Baba Nanak also had an elder sister named Bibi Nanki.
From childhood days, Baba Nanak was calm and never cried like others kids. He used to keep a bright and soothing smile on his face. He was very compassionate and used to donate food or clothes to the poor. His principles are still remembered on the present date. About Sultanpur Lodhi
Guru Nanak remained in Sultanpur Lodhi for several years along with his brother-in-law Jairam. Guru Nanak worked as a manager with utmost sincerity and served the poor. Later, he got married to Bibi Sulakhani in the year 1485 AD. Guru Nanak was not ready to follow the marriage rituals.
Therefore, he only took four rounds of sacred fire instead of seven. Later, the couple gave birth to two sons, Lakshmidas and Lakshmichand. Guru Nanak’s father thought that after the marriage, Nanak’s mind would get diverted, but it never happened. Sometimes he used to chant devotional songs for a whole night. People also believe that Guru Nanak used to take a bath in the river kali Bei, where he attained enlightenment.
Baba nanak’s Spritual Teachings
Guru Nanak’s spiritual teachings are presented and immortalized in the form of 974 hymns, which later came to be known as ‘Guru Granth Sahib,’ the holy text of Sikhism. Thereafter the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh, the holy text was referred to Adi Granth as his successor. So, there will be no guru in human form as the sacred text came to be known as Guru Maneyo Granth.

Guru Nanak wanted to spread the message of God and so he decided promote his teaching by traveling. Below are the five notable places visited by Guru Nanak.
- Guru Nanak covered most parts of present day India and Pakistan in his seven years journey
- Guru Nanak travelled across Sri Lanka for about seven years
- Guru Nanak travelled through the difficult terrains of the Himalayas and covered places like Kashmir, Nepal, Tashkent, Tibet and Sikkim. This journey lasted for about five years .
- Baba Nanak also went to Mecca and medina for three years
- Then, Guru Nanak arrived at Punjab to spread his messages. It believed that he spent 24 years of his life in his journeys.
Baba Nanak Discovered The System Of ‘Sangat and pangat’
Guru Nanak never believed in any religion and appealed his followers to avoid judging people on the basis of birth, gender or any religion. Baba Nanak informed them that all people are the same in the eyes of God. Later, he came up with Sangat-Panghat to cut off religious differences.
Sangat refers to the association Of people regardless of caste, creed, race, colour and religion. Whereas, Pangat means a large-sized Kitchen, which allows everyone to take a meal sitting under one roof. Guru Nanak never wanted anyone to sleep hungry, and therefore he arranged langar for everyone. He made serious efforts to promote equality.

How Guru Nanak’s Death Resulted In Conflict?
During his lifetime, Guru Nanak made numerous followers from the Hindu and Muslim community. Baba Nanak rejoined God after attaining immortality and passed ‘Jyoti Jot’ to his successor Second Guru Angad Dev.
As soon as Guru Nanak took his last breath, conflict occurred between the Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims to organize his final rites. Muslims wanted to bury his body while the Hindus and Sikhs decided to cremate his body as per their traditions. Later, all of them reached a settlement by offering flowers, which have long-lasting freshness. Hindus and Sikhs placed the flowers on the right side of his body while Muslims placed them on the left side.
The next day, followers came to check the freshness of flowers, but they were surprised to see that not a single trace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s body had vanished. Also, all the flowers placed by Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims remained fresh.
