The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi lasts ten days, concluding with Anant Chaturdashi on the tenth day. This ten-day event comes to a close with the immersion of Ganesha’s idol on Anant Chaturdashi. The weekday of Wednesday is considered favourable for Ganesha Puja.

Ganesh Chaturthi Special: Modak & The Lord Ganesha
Lord Ganapati, the lord of Riddhi and Siddhi, must be offered Modak as prasad during devotion. Although Modak is regarded to be very close to Ganpati’s heart, some mythological beliefs are hidden behind this fact. According to the Puranas, Ganapati and Parashuram fought, and Ganapati lost one of his teeth.
He was unable to eat anything because of his shattered teeth. As a result, dishes that are easy to eat and do not cause tooth pain was created. Modak is one of them and is quite lovely to have. Also, it is stated that Lord Ganesha adored Modak and that it has since become his favourite dessert. As a result, devotees present Modak to Lord Ganesha in order to appease him.
Modak stories have also been mentioned in ancient scriptures. Modak is a Hindi word that implies happiness or joy. Lord Ganesha is revered as the God of Happiness and Auspicious Occasions, and as such, he is presented with Modak.
Rituals For Ganpati Deva
- First and foremost, take a bath in the morning.
- Then, create a copper or clay idol of Lord Ganesha.
- Fill Kalash with water and wrap a new rag around its neck. Then, put Lord Ganesha’s idol on top of it.
- By following all ceremonies and procedures, Lord Ganesha must be offered Sindoor, Durva, Ghee, and 21 Modaks.
- Afterwards, distribute Ladoos to the needy and Brahmans.
- During the ten days of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the Lord Ganesha idol can be kept for one, three, five, seven, or nine days.
